holy shit.

i cant believe 2009 is already coming to an end!! this year has been nothing short of mad/insane/crazy/amazing for me. i started off the year as a lowly, over-stressed student in tp cmm. middle of the year i had a "job" but i felt unemployed most of the time cos work happened only once a month or so. but it was awesome shit. met bands and awesome people. last bit of the year, i was lucky enough to get a fulltime job at a seriously awesome company, which was all thanks to JYUNEEN (SEE I MENTIONED YOUUU).

ANYHOO here's my 2009 in pictures

BYEBYE2009 )

i've a crazy ass schedule these next few days.
today > work ends at 1pm! > sherlock holmes > family dinner at sunset bay > new york themed party at abi's place for countdown
tomorrow > THE BLOODY BEETROOTS OH YEAH
saturday > goldie at homeclub with abi and x'ho
sunday > family lunch. im gonna be so drained, haha

anyway happy new year guise :B

Agh this is making me feel crazy and I have to rant. If anyone has any comforting information I would be so grateful. All I can concentrate on now is "just hire an attorney....just hire an attorney...."

I've been working on marriage to my English fiance here in the UK (I'm American) and our eventual goal is to move back to the states for a few years in about 2013 just to figure out where we want to settle before we have kids.

My understanding of MY visa process for staying in the UK goes like this:

Post grad visa
Certificate of Approval
Getting hitched
Spouse visa
Eventual indefinite leave to remain

All done! Only what like £1500 but cheap at the price.

In three years, when I want him to move back to Oregon with me, it looks like this:

Apply in London for I-130 petition
Somehow establish MY domicile in Oregon, while living in Edinburgh, while "domicile" is badly defined in the so-called "glossary"
Somehow proceed through an 8 step process requiring three or four separate fees and a medical exam, plus certificates from every police district he's ever lived in describing his "good conduct."
And extra stuff that I don't even understand. And tax returns!

And the language is so vague that I don't even understand if any of this results in a green card, or just the approval to apply for a green card.

I guess I am just ranting because I feel so frustrated by the obscurity of my governments processes. Is this where my tax dollars go? The writing of uselessly worded web pages and lists that mean nothing to an ordinary person? The processing of endless parades of dense paperwork? Or are they just funding the immigration attorneys because they have such a great lobby?

Wondering if this is in stores yet?? Anyone seen it? Even better in the Portsmouth/Hampshire area.

New Years dress plans have gone to pot after discovering my original dress has a broken zip and that when this dress arrived today http://www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=20&viewAllFlag=false&catalogId=20552&storeId=12552&categoryId=155424&parent_category_rn=49448&productId=1534085&langId=-1 it wasn't half as nice in reality.

Thanks x

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Went scuba diving, sang in front of a crowd, performed songs I wrote in front of people, worked at a bar, hosted "Movie Night From Hell" at my place, went to Jamaica, went to one of the cities of my dreams (New Orleans), fed two huge alligators, went parasailing, filed a claim asking my old job to give me money they owed me and actually GETTING it, surprisingly, seeing Jack White live, seeing Devo live.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?:

I never really make resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?:
My lady Jenny had her second baby.

4. Did anyone close to you die?:
No, thank goodness.

5. What countries did you visit?:
Jamaica, the US.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?:
Direction.

7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?:
I don't ever think about dates. The memory itself serves more important than the date it culminated from.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?:

Finally getting out of my soul-sucking job. Actually getting onstage and singing in front of a crowd. Overcoming my horrible fear of the ocean to experience one of the most insanely amazing things I have ever done (scuba diving).

9. What was your biggest failure?:
Thinking that I had a plan in the first half of the year, that really didn't end up working out the way I thought it would. But I'm on new path... to somewhere... so I guess it's not all bad.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?:
Nothing major. I had a scare with my "down there" stuff, but it's all good. (I hope)

11. What was the best thing you bought?:
I don't think I bought anything significant this year.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?:
My mother's, as usual. I'm not sure who else. I can't really think that far back. Bad memory. Must stop smoking pot in 2010. Just kidding.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?:
Eh. Certain people who I've already chosen to forget about.

14. Where did most of your money go?:
The usual suspects: cab and bus fare, magazines, food, clothing, stuff for my house.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?:
Seeing Walter Lure live, going on both trips, seeing my best friend, getting a new camera finally...

16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2009?:
Oh jesus. I don't know. Um, I guess the whole Dead Weather record... I honestly have no idea. There were so many.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Meh. Kind of just in the middle.
b) thinner or fatter? Gained a bit of weight. Yahoo.
c)richer or poorer? Poorer, since I don't have my fancy job anymore. But I'm happier because of it.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?:
Working out, not wasting so much time (I say that every year), photography

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?:
Playing stupid avoiding the phone games with my dad, procrastinating.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?:
I spent xmas with family and Dave. Lots of traveling. Lots of drinking. Lots of eating.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?:
I fell in love with the cosmos.

22. Did you do anything you are ashamed of?:
If I were ashamed of myself, that would be a big let down.

23. What was your favorite TV program?:
Ghost Hunters. Cities of the Underworld. 30 Rock. The Jon Dore Show.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?:
No one I dislike is worth the effort it takes to "hate." But yes I dislike a couple of people.

25. What was the best book you read?:
Hm. Didn't get as much reading done this year as I would have hoped. I loved Chuck Klosterman IV.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?:
Oh man. Tons. Wavves, Fever Ray, Dead Moon, Death In June, AA Bondy, Black Mountain, etc. etc. etc.

27. What did you want and get?:
Freedom. A stronger resolve. More confidence. A new camera.

28. What did you want and not get?:
To stay longer in New Orleans. I'm planning on going back in the new year.

29. What was your favourite film of this year?:
Hm. That's another thing I didn't do as much of this year as I would have liked to do. See more films. I guess one of the better ones I saw this year was "Milk."

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?:
On my actual real birthday, I worked but I work at a bar so everyone made it fun. My "birthday party" was two days before my birthday. I played a show and hung out with friends and had a wicked night. I turned 26.

31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?:
Having gotten serious about my photography again earlier instead of waiting.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?:
Uh. Black black black. Loose, flowy t-shirts with tight black pants, tons of metal jewelery, black drapey cardigans and blazers... black ankle boots... comfort with a hard edge. Aboriginal designs and jewelery. I don't know.

33. What kept you sane?:
My kitties. My alone time. Music. Writing music. 4 am.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?:
I have a boner for Don Wildman from Cities of the Underworld and a bunch of the dudes from Ghost Hunters. I guess they're not really "celebrities" though. Who cares. Celebrities are lame.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?:
Abortion rights.

36. Who did you miss?:
Jen, but I got to see her a bunch when she visited. My dad. A certain other person who shall not be named, but I didn't "miss" them as much as my subconscious was just sort of mixed up and kept popping them into my head.

37. Who was the best new person you met?:
Seriously, I have met so many awesome new people this year. Lou, Glen, Jodie, Darlene, Doug, Caroline, Nat, Chelsea, Rowan, Bryon, Dan, there are like a million.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
I'm not sure if there is any one significant lesson I learned. I just sort of developed on lessons I've learned in the past. Mostly to do with self-preservation and awareness.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"One eye, as white as a bride... the other eye, as black as the devil"
"This inverted heart has been kissed by lightning"

I'm looking for a tattoo that I saw a long time ago on here of an octopus or a squid attacking a pirate ship across a girl side, but I can't find it anywhere. It was huge and it stretched across from her boobs to her thighs.

Or if anyone can show me some cool stuff similar to that, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I was told to post here;

A while back I was applying for my NUS card online, but somehow when I went onto the checkout my card got rejected. My dad claims that my card type may have been the problem (it's an Electron and not a debit card). Has anybody experienced this before? And if they have, what is your advice to do?

Thanks in advance

So, after having looked through the new stuff on the website I keep seeing some nice tops or dresses that are part of the maternity range. Would they look stupid on somebody who's not pregnant do you think? Would they sag around the belly or are they just extra stretchy instead? Anybody got any experience with this? I feel a bit wrong browsing the maternity section in stores as I'm not pregnant & feel I'm in the wrong place.
